Marion specialises in teaching music to children in a fun, friendly and creative environment where they have the freedom to develop a love and appreciation for music while building fundamental music skills. She also teaches adults. For more information, contact Marion at marionokenny (at) hotmail.com.

Marion was born into a musical family and began learning the piano aged five, followed by violin and flute.-At the age of eighteen her college lecturer John Wolf (musical director at The Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford Upon Avon Theatre) encouraged her to start teaching and gave her five beginner piano pupils. Thirty years later she has taught pupils of all ages and abilities.

Marion thrives on adapting her techniques to individuals and aims to convey her passion and enthusiasm for music to the younger generation. She recognises that all children learn differently and draws on a variety of methods to meet each child's individual needs. Marion works with the syllabus of The Royal Associated Board of Music.

Piano

Piano is taught on a one-to-one basis to establish musical understanding and good habits from the very beginning with the focus being on good piano technique as well as practical keyboard skills including improvisation. Pupils will be expected to practice their instrument for 10 - 15 minutes at least four times a week. It is essential that all children have a piano or keyboards at home.

Flute

Flute classes are offered to children from primary three upwards. All classes are taught on a one-to-one basis to establish musical understanding and good habits from the very beginning. Pupils will be expected to practice their instrument for 10 - 15 minutes at least four times a week. Marion has flutes available for hire and can give advice on purchasing instruments.
