• Nepal Journey: Images from the Himalayas before the earthquake

    This is a video set to a piece of music Marion wrote called 'No Idea' which is a track from the album 'Original Language' by 'Sanskrit Soundsystem.'

    She has used it to accompany some photographs from her last visit to Nepal, in 2013. The artist Kenneth McQueenie has used his creative eye to turn it into a film.

  • Scottish International Storytelling Festival 2015: Syrian and Iraqi performances

    Marion was involved in a number of very topical performances at this year's Scottish International Storytelling Festival.

    As well as performing as part of the Babylon Arabic Band, Marion coached volunteers from the blog project Qisetna: Talking Syria, which featured in several performances throughout the week.

    She also hosted the first in a series of Open Table events, where Israeli and Iranian storytellers shared stories and food.



  • Voices in Scotland, Scottish Storytelling Festival

    Voices in Scotland will have its Edinburgh premiere at the Scottish Storytelling Festival on Friday 19 October 2012.

    The performance will include music and stories from Mio Shapley, Claire McNicol, Mary McMaster, Donald Hay, Teresa Brookes, Mara Menzies, Jamie Kenny and Leo McCann.

MARION KENNY is a musician, storyteller, performer, and trainer, living in Edinburgh, Scotland.

She plays concert flute, Chinese bamboo flute (Dizi) Chinese reed flute (Bawu) Balinese bamboo flute (Suling) Chinese harp (Guzheng) and piano.

Marion performs as a soloist but is a passionate collaborator. She presently plays with a number of musical ensembles as well as creating music for theatre, dance and storytelling.

She has worked as a professional storyteller since 1994 and performed, research and taught internationally.

Marion has been working as a performer with theatre, circus and physical theatre companies since 1985.
